Abbreviations:
st = stitch dec = decrease BLO = back loops only
ch = chain stitch inc = increase k = knit stitch
tr st = turning stitch MR = Magic Ring p = purl stitch
sc = single crochet FLO = front loops only e st = edge stitch
Instructions:
The number in brackets at the end of each round is the total number of stitches in this
round.
(…) * n - repeat the number of st indicated in the brackets ‘n’ times.
Choose the correct hook size according to the thickness of the yarn. You can choose any yarn
of your choice but make sure that the gauge or size of the clothes will depend on the thickness
of the yarn.
The raincoat and the hat are crocheted in semi-X stitches. Shift stitches are calculated precisely for this
technique. If you crochet the stitches with Yarn Overs, then you will need to determine the pieces
symmetry and the number of shift stitches and their location by yourself.
If you’re not sure if the clothes will fit your toy, make a chain of stitches and count how many
stitches you will need to cover the widest part of your toy’s body. In this pattern I chained 80
stitches. You can reduce or increase the chain so that it suits your requirements.
Use a stitch marker at the end of every row and round for your convenience.
Materials:
1. Yarn in blue color for the coat 330m/100gr (I used Alize Cotton Gold №17)
2. Yarn in red color for the hat 50m/150gr (I used Yarn Art Jeans №56).
3. Yarn in mustard color for the decorative band around the hat 100gr/330m (I’ve used Alize Cotton
Gold №02).
4. Crochet Hook 2mm.
5. Scissors.
6. Tapestry needle for sewing.
7. Buttons or hooks to fasten on the coat.

Coat:
The coat will be crocheted in one piece with turning rows. Make a turning stitch at the end of every row.
The sleeves will be crocheted separately.

SLEEVES
Now we’ll be starting with the sleeves. We need to join the thread to the 1st hole (sc of the opening of the
sleeve) and crochet it along using sc (pic. 11). The quantity of stitches can be different. I have 32 sc
instead of 28, because I make 2 inc in the corner to make the sleeve wider. It will allow the sleeve to fit
more easily.

This will count as the 1st round of the sleeve. You’ll need to crochet 16 rounds, or you can adjust the
number of rows by adding or leaving out rows, to fit your toy’s body. You could also fold the edges of
the sleeves upwards to make cuffs. Just make sure that there are no visible treads.
Don’t cut the thread. Crochet along three of the pocket’s edges
and come back to the side where you started. Leave a long tail for
sewing.

Also crochet along the edge of the flaps and leave a long tail of thread for sewing.
On the pics below you could see where I placed the pockets (pic. 15, 16) with theirs flaps.

Sew the flap onto the coat, 1-2 rows higher
than the pocket.
You are welcome to change the placement
as you prefer.

You can use your imagination and fasten your coat like you please! On the pics below (pic. 17, 18) you
can see how I did it.

That’s it! I hope you enjoy dressing your Paddington as much as I enjoyed designing the coat and hat to
dress him!
