About NITC
National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is one of the 31 Institutions of National importance set up by
an Act of Parliament in 2007, and is fully funded by the Government of India. Originally established in 1961
as a Regional Engineering College (REC), and was transformed into NITC in 2002. The Institute has 15
Departments, offering 12 UG and 32 PG programmes in Engineering, Science, Technology, Humanities and
Management, and doctoral programmes.
