Sip Project of Optcl
Sip Project of Optcl
Proposed Research Topic: Analysis of training and development, recruitment and selection stages of OPTCL.
Company profile: I will conduct my observation and analysis individually that is within the OPTCL (Orissa Power Transmission Corporation Ltd.)Bhubaneswar. Presently the Company is carrying on intra state transmission and wheeling of electricity under a license issued by the Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission. The Company owns Extra High Voltage Transmission system and operates about 9550.93 ckt kms of transmission lines at 400 kV, 220 kV, 132 kV levels and 81 nos. of substations with transformation capacity of MVA. Objectives: To know the training and development process of OPTCL. To explore the types of training implementing in OPTCL. To point out how an employee get the benefits from the training in OPTCL. To explore the Performance appraisal process of OPTCL. To know the recruitment and selection process of OPTCL.
Scope: I will indulge in participant-observation over an eight-week period, from 12 April to 15 June for approximately fifty hours per week. I will observe the daily working condition of the OPTCL and stay for some hours or so to observe their other extra works. I will schedule structured interviews, of team members in formal way by asking questions, as needed to rectify and provide insight into specific conversations. Theoretical framework: I will be guided most generally by the interpretive perspective. The interpretive perspective places the focus on interpreting the meanings and perspectives of organizations members, and how these processes are implemented. I am exploring the meanings the human resources staffs and members have for themselves as individuals and for their relationships, as well as the meanings human resources staffs have for the organisation, group, and profession of which they are members. The observation approach directs me to choose one or a few specific interactions to explore in depth.
Training and Development of OPTCL: There are two training centres having five class room in all. Each batch of training course accommodates 20 participants. Each training centres on an average conduct 25 courses in a year. a. Estimation of organisational training need. b. Execution of training programs. c. Training planning. d. Management of training provided to the organisation. Methodology: 1. Collect the training and development information from primary source as well as secondary source. 2. Conduct an interview for all level of employees to know the training process. 3. To point out the prominent methods and implementation part of training and Development by self observation also recruitment and selection stages by asking Questions to the employees. Limitations: Time constraints of the semester require less time than may be ideal for an organization administration study. By being in the organisation for only eight hours a week for eight weeks, there are bound to be aspects of daily working condition of employee, power map of OPTCL,installed transformation capacity under OPTCL per year wise, list of EHT lines under OPTCL with circuit k.m.s per year wise that will not be revealed during my observations. Being an outsider may also limit what is revealed to me. The team members may be guarded in their conversations around me, especially in my initial observations.
